Seven Ways to Have a Fun at Home Spring Break

It’s spring in Indiana–the clocks have all jumped forward giving us a little more sun in the evenings, the temperature is getting warmer, and the talk of vacations and trips after a long winter is on the minds of most.

But if you’re staying home for spring break it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun! Here are X ways to enjoy some family time:

Hike Your Local Trails

It’s a great time to get out and see the forest just as the foliage begins to return. Pack a journal and some colored pencils and have your child draw what they see on the hike. If you’re looking for inspiration here are some Indiana trails to discover

Get Crafty

When the days are warm it’s a great time to take the art projects outside for messes that are easy to wash away. You don’t have to buy a lot of supplies–most of these crafts involve nature and things you’ll find in your yard or on a neighborhood walk. This is a great time to create a fairy garden that you can update as the season’s change.

Game Night

Have everyone pick their favorite game, make some appetizers for dinner, and enjoy the fun!

Backyard Campout

You don’t have to head to a campground to have a campout! Have fun creating your own campsite with a tent, camp foods (hot dogs and smores!), and tell stories with the light of a flashlight.

Be a Good Neighbor

Head out for a family walk and bring your trash bags and gloves and pick up litter in your area park, neighborhood or local trail.

Have a Movie Marathon

Everyone gets in their comfiest clothes, gather all the blankets and pillows you can find, get the snacks ready and binge your favorite movies together.

Scavenger Hunt

Make your own scavenger hunt in your neighborhood or city. Find unique ways to stretch it out for the week by including unique landmarks. Plan this with another family for a fun playdate!
