The child has one intuitive aim: self development
Mrs. Linda Foley, our assistant director since 2013, teaches our 3s (Chickadees) and 4s (Robins). She began her time at Meridian Hills Cooperative as a student. It was such a memorable experience that she later became a student teacher, brought her own children to the school, and has been one of our teachers since 2000. Her breadth of teaching at Meridian Hills ranges from age 2 through Pre-K. Linda has a degree in Early Childhood Education from Butler University, with a minor in Special Education and a Kindergarten endorsement. She is also Nature Explorer and Handwriting Without Tears certified.
Before teaching with us, Linda co-created and taught at preschool programs that are still operating today, including the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township’s all-day preschool program, and Conner Prairie Museum’s “Prairietown Tykes” program. Linda also helped to organize and run “Orchard in Bloom” at Orchard School, where she taught summer camp and volunteered in the Parent’s Association with key leadership roles.
Linda continues to give back to the co-op community through the Indiana Council of Preschool Cooperatives as a board member, mentor teacher, and classroom participation trainer. She is always striving to bring new experiences to the classroom that will help children to become more capable, self-sufficient, and socially competent. She has received several awards for her efforts, including the Carol McMullen Excellence in Early Childhood award from Butler, and a District Award for dedicated service to the cooperative preschool movement from Parent Cooperative Preschools International in 2010 and 2017.
Linda enjoys cooking, gardening, biking, swimming, being outside, and reading. Her dedication and enthusiasm for helping children grow and develop are a treasure, and we are lucky to have her at Meridian Hills Cooperative!
